How to add subtitles to video in imovie3/31/2024 ![]() ![]() To adjust the start point of the legend, you need to grab the legend bar and move it left or right to find the right place. Once you’ve written the first piece of text, you need to adjust its length and starting point. Single line captions are easier to follow and people can read them faster. We will remove the top one and use only the bottom one. Click on one of them and enter the caption text. In our case, we have two boxes at the bottom of the screen. You should see one or more transparent text boxes on the clip all will have examples of “title text here” text written in all caps. In this step, you need to type the text of your first caption in the preview window in the upper right section of the window. Grab the option you want, drag it to the bottom of the timeline, and place it just above the clip. For the purposes of this article, we’ll go with the Standard Lower Third Option. The lower title, soft bar, and standard lower third should work well. iMovie will then show you a list of available title options.
